RyanFalzon (b.1988) is a painter and printmaker based between Malta andBerlin. His vibrant, expressive works deal with the contemporarythemes of duality, narrative, social media, human interaction andexistential conditions. Overthe past few years, Falzon has established a distinctive voice andapproach in the Maltese Art scene. Often abrasive and mischievous,his work is known for creating a narrative by bringing together awide-ranging set of images in a collage-like arrangement, allowingthe viewer to wander about visually.Since2020 Falzon has been working on the Botanica Series, a collection ofinternal scapes/still lifes that has received much positive criticalattention. A direct result of Covid-19 pandemic, the main themesportrayed here are suggestive domestic spaces and growth. Since 2009,Falzon has participated in a significant number of solo andcollective exhibitions in Malta and Europe. His works can be found inboth public and private collections in Europe and the US.

Between2009 – 2011, Falzon studied Fine Arts at MCAST Art and Design,Malta under the tuition of Gilbert Calleja, Katya Borg and SineadRice. Further studies include tuition under the guidance of RobertZahra. Falzon obtained B.A. (Hons) degree from MCAST (Malta) incollaboration with Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (Germany). During theDegree course, Falzon has been tutored by lecturers fromBauhaus and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.

Between2013 and 2015, Falzon managed the Xarolla Windmill Project, ayoung artists collective aimedat supporting emerging artists throughmultidisciplinaryworks.InMay 2014, Falzonwas chosen by Absolut Vodka as an artist for the “Transform Today”worldwide project.

Since2016, Falzon has been mentored by curator and theatre directorMichael A. Fenech. Hisbody of work between 2016 and 2019, such as "Quick Fix: AMorality Tale" (2016), We Lost the War" (2017) and "Cultureis Past Art is Future" (2018), has become a reference in recentlocal political art. Heis also involved in local literary circles, and has had his workspublished in local anthologies. He is currently working on his firstnovel. Falzon is an art educator at Senior and IB Sixth Form at St.Edward's College, Birgu, Malta. He is currently reading for an MA inFine Arts at University of Malta under the tuition of Dr. GilbertCalleja within the Department of Art and History of Art.
